380 candidates wrote the April 2021 COTVET exams in Bono Region

A total of 380 candidates of the Bono Regional branch of the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA) on Saturday wrote the April 2021 Council for Technical Vocational Education and Training (COTVET) examination.

It was a nationwide oral and practical or hands-on demonstration proficiency test conducted by COTVET twice (April and September) every year to assess the skills and competent levels of apprentices.
Mr. Francis Agyare, the Bono Regional Chairman for GNTDA said the candidates were between the ages of 16 and 21 with about 98 per cent being females including single parents.
Speaking to the media on Saturday in Sunyani, he said the trade test is an assessment of the individual to note whether or not the person has achieved certain levels of knowledge and expertise in the industry for self employment.

Mr. Agyare said the candidates were the 2018 to 2021 batch and 70 out of the Regional 380 data were from zon ‘A, B and C in the Sunyani Municipality.
Candidates from the Zone ‘B’ sat for the exams at the Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA) youth empowerment training centre.
Mr. Issac Osei, Secretary of the GNTDA added some of the candidates had no educational background.
He said there is an ongoing executives discussing to give supporting packages to those who need start up support after graduation.

Mr. Abdullah Mohammed Amin, an invigilator in an interview after the examination commended the candidates for their conducts and seriousness shown in the exams.
He said noted more than 70 per cent of the candidates finished their work before time and therefore hoped they could pass very well.
Speaking to some candidates, Mr. Osei Emmanuel who finished very early commended the organizers and the supervisors for the way the test was conducted.
Mis Pomaa Grace said her confidence level was very high to meet clients expectations.
