All is set for the Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA) to begin it’s first community training center at Nkrankrom, a farming community near Abesim, in the Sunyani Municipality.
The new training center would take effect from Saturday, July 13, 2019 to impact self employment competencies in the youth.
This would make way for more than 35 young people in the area to be equipped with skills and ability for self employment and job creations for better socioeconomic living.
Trainees would go through a minimum of three years training in areas including bead making, decoration, leather works, bags making, hair dressing, dress making and many other handicrafts.
This followed a community sensitisation held by SYDA in conjunction with the Initiative Black & White in Ghana and Germany, as well as the B/A Regional Directorate of the Migration Information Center on the menace of irregular migration in the area.
Speaking to journalists, Mr. Atta Akoto Jnr, the SYDA’s project co ordinator said the move aimed at empowering the youth with employable skills and capabilities to clampdown unemployment and curb irregular migration in the country by 2030.
He noted the brain behind irregular migration which brings about lost of many lives was to search for jobs, therefore, “there is the need for such move to get all those idle hands something profitable doing for themselves to enhance their livelihood”.
Adding that, armed robbery, weed smoking, gambling, prostitution and other social vices amongst the young ones in societies could also end.
