Government Increases Cocoa Price.

The government of Ghana has increased the price of cocoa from GHC 475.00 to GHC 515.00 per bag and GHC 7,600.00 to GHC 8,240.00 a tonne, signifying 8.42 per cent.

It implies an upward review of GHC 640.00/and GHC 40.00 for a tonne and bag respectively.

This was announced on Tuesday at the Jubilee Park in Sunyani by Dr. Gyiele Nurah, a Minister of State at the Ministry of Food and Agricultural (MoFA).

He announced on behalf of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, when he addressed a durbar organized by the Ghana Cocoa Board to mark the 14th National Cocoa Day celebration.

The program, on the theme “Sustainable Cocoa Production for Wealth and Health” was attended by Cocoa farmers and stakeholders in the Cocoa industry.


Dr. Gyiele encouraged the general public to consume Cocoa products, saying that there is numerous health benefits in Cocoa.
