School girls in the Bono region gives solution to sanitation problems

March 11, 2023

Some Girls Schools in the Bono region who called themselves “Bono Changemakers” have shown the possible ways to solve sanitation problems.

With focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 and 5, the students demonstrated interest and high level skills towards sanitation management in Ghana and Africa.

They used plastic waste materials such as bottles and sachet water rubbers to manufacture useful household items to solve sanitation problems whilst creating jobs.

The schools are Notre Dame Girls Senior High and Basic School, Our Lady of Providence Girls SHS, Serwaa Kesse Girls SHS and Bishop Owusu Girls SHS.

Working under the theme: “The Ghanaian Girl Bringing Changes Through Innovation”, the students used the waste materials to manufacture rain coat, waste bins, tables, stands, pen and pencil boxes, dressing mirror and many more.

They showcased their handy works on Friday, March 10, 2023 at the Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA) Skills Training Center to motivate their colleague students and other youth in the region.

InspiNest Ghana, a non governmental organization into changing the mindset of young females towards entrepreneurship trained them during its one-year project.
