Sunyani Authorities-Restore Law and Order

The Sunyani Traditional Council (STC) together with the Municipal Assembly have vowed to restore law and order in the city.
“We are going to see a new Sunyani”, Nana Akosua Dua Asor Sika Brayie II, the Sunyani Manhemaa (Paramount Queen mother) assured at a mega cleanup exercise on Saturday.
The STC in collaboration with the Municipal Assembly organized the exercise titled “Omanhemaa Aprapra” which started 0600 hours to 1200 hours.
The maiden “Omanhemaa Aprapra” exercise brought together all the security services, fanclubs, the Zoom lion Ghana limited, institutions, associations, Chiefs, shop owners and the general public.
It was led by Nana Asor Brayie II, Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister, Mr. John Ansu Kumi, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and other opinion leaders.
The exercise would be held first Saturday of every three month for Sunyani to regain her lost glory.
Speaking to the media, the Queen mother said her outfit has procured to ensure abundant waste bins in the Central Business Area and all other corners of the city to stop and prevent trash blindness in Sunyani.
She called on the media for relentless education, information and awareness creation for a collective good cause.
Mr. John Ansu Kumi, the MCE commended the STC for the great efforts to check and maintain proper sanitation in Sunyani.
According to him, the Municipal Assembly has amended its bye-laws in addition to measures more relevant to the current changing environment and related situations.
Mr. Kumi said the gazetted bye-laws in that regard would give the Assembly prosecutorial powers to prosecute recalcitrant persons who litter the city indiscriminately.
Lawyer Yeboah Asuama, one of the actively involved personalities in the clean up exercise told thefourlens.com that the exercise is also for the harmony, unity, peace and the general wellbeing of the city.
He commended the city authorities for the move and urged shop and store owners, households and individuals not to wait for a general exercise of this kind or wait for sanitary inspectors instructions but, regularly ensure their surroundings were kept tidy.
