Mr. Atta Akoto Snr, President of the Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA) has entreated youth to see and take employable skill training as an essential tool that aids a successful adult living.
This, he noted could support government’s efforts to reduce unemployment and facilitate the socioeconomic living of the people if the individuals play their crucial roles in jobs creation by creating a conducive environment for vocational training.
This was at a meeting with Mr. Kwadjo Agyapong, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Oh Lord Answer My Prayer (OLAMP), a leather works company at Drobo in the Jaman South District of the Bono Region.
In collaboration with Initiative Black & White Ghana and Germany (IBW), the engagement aimed at forming partnership with SYDA and OLAMP to actualise developmental ideas to empower young people and curb illegal migration.
The interaction, without doubt are vital for trust and confidence building for the expansion of skill training centers to offer self employment opportunities for youths in the Jaman Districts.
Such opportunities includes free training in bag making, leather works, bead works, tailoring, auto mechanics, hairdressing, carpentry, soap making and many more across the three Regions of B/A.
“Let’s contribute our quota to ending irregular migration, it’s killing our people”,he worried.
Mr. Agyapong said the idea was laudable because “I studied the move of SYDA for quite a long time and saw that the initiative would could solve national problems”.
He urged members of the Association to devoid personal interest and seek the nation’s progress as a core goal.
Plans are far advanced to hold one week training for more than100 youth in the Jaman Districts.
