The Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA) has tie the knot with the National Youth Authority (NYA) to curb irregular migration in the country.
The agenda is to bring together and equip the vulnerable, unemployed youth, those with disabilities and the less privilege in the community,
Madam Fati Bamba, the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions Director of NYA has said. She noted that illegal migration, particularly, “in this region is alarming and must be seen as issue that needed immediate attention”.

“Our collaboration aimed creating jobs for the youth and equip them to be capable of self employment”, and was optimistic that the move could help save their lives from such a risky journey.

Madam Fati noted if the youth are given the skills of creating jobs for themselves, they wouldn’t think of travelling on the high seas in search for jobs, which on the process ends their lives.
Also, there wouldn’t be any motivation to get into drug peddling and abuse, she added.

This was in a discussion after the climax of a two weeks entrepreneurship training on Friday.
It was organized by the NYA & SYDA for about 45 young people in the municipality.

Participants we’re trained in beads making, bead decoration, wig cap making and fixing, online marketing, among others.
Trainees were given a start up tools based on their areas of expertise to start their own businesses.
The program was sponsored by MTN Ghana limited.

Madam Justina Owusu Banahene, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive charged the beneficiaries to go and practice the skills acquired and impact into others.

“This is an opportunity we should all embrace to make change in our societies so go and make good uses of the resources given to you”, he added.
