SYDA strengthened move to end teenage pregnancy, irregular migration.

The Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA) in collaboration with Initiative Black & White Ghana and Germany has commence operation of their first branch of hand skills training center.

The new branch was opened on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Nkrankrom, near Abesim in the Sunyani Municipality, with 22 and 27 new registered members aged 13 to 35 in attendance respectively on Saturday and Sunday, said Mr Akomea Sakyi, the Association’s secretary.

Beneficiaries would be taken through a minimum of two years intensive self employable skills training in auto mechanic, carpentry, plumbing, mason, hair dressing, tailoring, makeups artist, manicure, wig cap fixing, beading, leather works, bags and many more.
This followed a community sensitisation held by the two youth empowerment wings in conjunction with the B/A Directorate of the Migration Information Center of the Ghana Immigration Service on the menace of irregular migration.

Mr. Sakyi emphasized the training center aimed at building the capabilities of the unemployed youth to be self employed and by that curb the chunk unemployment canker.

He noted that B/A has the highest records of nationwide irregular migration statistics yearly as a result unemployment, pushing them to search for jobs over seas.

He therefore stressed the need for creating job opportunities to all those idle hands for them to reverse the thought of such voyage journey”.
