The use of children as guide for PWDs’ is child right abuse.

The Ghana Somubi Dwumadie, a disability support focused organization has described the use of children of school-going-age as guide, aid and personal assistance for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) as an affront and abuse of child right.
The organization expressed dislike about the situation, totally discouraged it and implored leadership of the Ghana Federation of Disability Organization (GFD) and other disability organizations to monitor and bring it to a halt.
Mrs Vivian Sarpomaa Fiscian, the leadership and government advisor at the Ghana Somubi Dwumadie expressed the dislike in an interview with thefourlens.com at Goaso, the Ahafo regional capital.
“We discouraged and don’t accept it entirely and we take serious exception in that regard” Mrs Sarpomaa stressed.
She emphasized “we are not going to tolerate that and don’t tolerate begging on the street, that is why we are building their capacities and helping them to get sustainable socioeconomic livelihood support”.
The Ghana Somubi Dwumadie with funding support from the UK Aid is on a nationwide sensitization, capacity building and empowerment training for beneficiaries of the District Assembly Disability Common Fund.
It was to help the PWDs’ get indepth knowledge about the new guidelines document for the disbursements and management of the disability common fund.
Beneficiaries are empowered to hold their fund disbursement and management committee accountable in terms of mismanagement, political interference and unwarranted delays.
